bachelor recap | week 4

Here we go...okay Bekah and Arie are 14 years apart. Please hold while I figure this out...36-14=22 Damnnn! Okay, let's see how this goes for her. Oh we're already on the move! Lake Tahoe, here we come!

One on One: with Seinne. She's cute and I like her style. These girls creeping on their date, god production is REALLY pushing the drams. The date seems like it's going okay. I don't think she's the one or anything just yet.
Cut to cute blond girl who's grandpa passed away. It's making me really upset. I feel so bad for her!!
Back to the date, I just have this hard time connecting to the dates and really getting a vibe for them as a couple on a date. Maybe cause the show is so focused on the other girls and what they're doing? Maybe cause I don't like Arie? Idk guys, I'm having trouble staying locked in...

Group Date: with 12 girls. He kinda has a camp counselor vibe on this walk through the woods. Wait, they're making them pee in containers? WHAT IS THIS?? Dear Bach Producers, STOP REACHING. Pick a better Bachelor and maybe your rates wouldn't suck. Love, a loyal watcher. Eating bugs? Man oh man, the budget has gone into the shitter. I wouldn't eat bugs for anyone, but Justin Timberlake. Is it really snowing? Kendall the taxidermy girl stole a kiss, good for her. At this point, I hope just go all out hunger games on one another. Maybe that will make it more entertaining to watch. Arie is the one that went over to Krystal, he clearly likes her. Krystal has to know she has a target on her back. And now she's using her time to discuss how it hurt her feelings when the girls were poking fun at her in the hot tub. Now Tia is crying to him. I do like her tho...not for him, but in general. I just don't think one note Arie is deserving of someone cool like Tia. Tia gets the rose!

One on One: with Baby Bekah. You can tell they're into each other the whole time. He seems a little thrown off on the age thing. I don't think she's ready for marriage yet especially with Arie the old, boring, whiner. This is the most emotion I've seen out of him. He is into her. Arie is not the type of guy that believes in "it's better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all." And I get it, but he needs to trust in her. Yes, she's young, but if she's into it and saying "trust me", he needs to do that. "I'm gonna do this with the rose in my hand" was a real weird thing to say, but here we go...and there's a BUT, so Bekah gets the rose. Also, anybody else singing "I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22" after hearing "twenty two" 328 times?! Just me? Okay, moving on...

Rose Ceremony: No cocktail party, Arie starts with saying "I know what I need to do" Krystal interrupts him cause of course she does. He seems kinda annoyed with her and she's talking in circles. I don't think she was going to go home before this, so I'm not sure why she pulled him aside. And they're back...here we go for real...He looks like a mannequin standing there with the rose before he calls the names. It's weird. Jenna? There's a Jenna? Has there always been a Jenna? Shoot, the realtor from Florida is going home...I thought she had Bachette in the cards. Which maybe she does, cause at this point anyone can be the damn Bachette/Bach.

Preview:  More of the Krystal show. And more tears, ugh, maybe it'll get good. Catch ya then, xo!

Blooper: GLAMSHAMING. YASSSSS, this is a REAL THING PEOPLE. #PROGLAM

Excerpt:
Worst bloody Christmas of my life! In all my life I never thought I’d be so grateful to get back to work on the 27th of December. We’d been sat there at the dinner table enjoying what should have been a fantastic dinner with the people we loved, and he had to go and ruin it all. His mum had asked a simple question, one my mother was itching to ask too. A question I had hoped they’d leave off for at least another six months but when I heard it, I thought we’d behave like grown-ups and answer it reasonably. What I didn’t expect was for him to have said what he did. I was just as shocked as everyone else at the table, at a complete loss for how to respond.
“So, when will you be getting married then?” His mum had asked in a teasing tone as she elbowed him gently.
I’d laughed slightly and gone to answer the question myself. We’ve not thought about it, was on the tip of my tongue. It was the truth after all. Even if we’d been together since high school, we’d never once considered getting married. There were so many things to discuss before we could agree to spending the rest of our lives together, like if we wanted kids and how many. We’d never once discussed the future, and part of me believed it was because we both knew that we were just passing time until something or someone better came along. It wasn’t that I didn’t love him, I did. I loved him more than almost anyone else, but it wasn’t the way I imagined being in love. Something was missing and over the years I’d convinced myself that that was okay, that eventually, we might find that missing component. Darren had apparently disagreed though because this Christmas he dumped me.
“We won’t be getting married,” Darren told me and our families in tandem.
His eyes were glued to the table in front of him as he continued, “actually I’ve decided we need to break up.” I wasn’t upset at the prospect of breaking up, not really. It had felt inevitable. I was downright pissed that he’d taken it upon himself to make the decision, not including me at all. What was worse was that he’d decided to tell our parents without my consent and on fucking Christmas Day of all days.
“What do you mean?” My father had jumped to his feet, prepared perhaps to defend his little girl.
“We’ve grown apart and there’s no point in continuing this farce.” His tone was cold and unfeeling. It left my heart like ice. He could have at least shown me some kindness, after all, we were friends before we started dating. We’d been dating for five years; ever since our last year at secondary school and before that, we’d been friends for over ten years.
“Why are you doing this now?” My father was furious and I couldn’t really blame him. I wasn’t exactly happy myself.
In a much quieter voice than my father’s, I asked, “why didn’t you discuss this with me before bringing it to our families?”
For the first time since his mother brought up marriage, he looked at me, “I didn’t think you’d let me go.”
“Let you go? I’m not holding you hostage,” the pitch of my voice increasing as I spoke.
“I… I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Then what did you mean?” I asked sharply.
My mother dropped her hand to my shoulder and suggested that everyone leave us to discuss the situation, but just as everyone got up from the table and began to make their way through to the living room, Darren abruptly told them it wasn’t necessary and that he was leaving.
“It’s not as simple as that,” I told him as he gathered his things together, “what about the flat?”
“You can keep it. I don’t want it.”
“What?” I was astounded by his complete lack of feeling. “Where will you stay?”
“I’ll find somewhere.”
“What about your belongings?”
“I’ll ask mum and dad to come and collect them in the New Year.”
“Why didn’t you talk to me about this?” I tried to touch his arm, but he flinched away from me as if burnt.
“There was never a right time.”
“There’s no such thing as the right time… As a friend, as your best friend, as someone you’ve known almost your whole life, I deserved to be told properly.”
“I can’t give you what you want.”
“I don’t know what you think I want.”
“Forever.”
“I never asked for that.”
“You didn’t need to.” With those words, he was out the door and I was left to deal with the aftermath. I had to apologise to our families for destroying Christmas, listen to his parents’ apologies, bear through all the absolute crap excuses that our siblings tried to make for him, and attempt to sooth my father’s anger. Worst Christmas of my life and it was all thanks to Darren Jacks. Thank fuck for being back at work is all I can say.

bachelor recap | week 3

Group date 1: with a shit ton of girls! I should be telling you which girls, but does it really matter at this point? This season feels like it has more girls then ever. Guys, I can't with Arie. I just do not find him attractive at all...I'm completely in this for the drams. How short is Chris Harrison? If Arie is 6'2, Chris has to be 5'10...hold on, I'll google. Yup, 5'10, you're welcome. I like Lauren B, she's super cute and seems genuine. Bibiana is getting worked by this wrestler, verbally, not physically. Real talk, are these girls wearing lashes or lash extensions cause I need to know. Bekah (short haired girl) doesn't have an age when they show her name/occupation, I remember in a preview they say something about he doesn't know how young she is. That storyline is 100% producer driven because everyone else has their age. This date is kinda dumb, funny, but dumb. Yay, Kenny!!! I hope he destroys Arie. The last girls was the most entertaining and it made me like Tia. Wait, they didn't have to fight to find a winner to have extra time with him? Sheesh, what a ripoff. As much as I like Krystal for Arie, her voice is getting on my last nerve. EWWW, the moaning as they kiss is yucky. I just wondering if these girls watch the show before coming on. Has anyone who used their time with him to talk shit about another person in the house ended up the winner? No, use your time to talk about YOU and YOUR relationship. Bekah gets the rose and I'm still curious about her age.

One on One: with Lauren S. I love her dress, so cute and that color just pops. But the sneakers are killing me. Not really sure about Lauren S, not for any bad reason, but I feel like I know nothing about her. Those wine glasses are everything, need. She's very chatty, like woah. And she starts off saying "okay, I'll tell you this" and I thought okay here comes a story with drama, but nope "my parents are great." Oh no, she's out! He looked so bored with her, oh stop with the I don't want you to miss out on your home life bs. Oh give me a break with the this is my first hard goodbye. You're just saying that because it's awkward! (ps-I've had dates where I couldn't shut up cause I wasn't into the guy and I just thought it'd make the time go by quicker...)

Group date 2: with DOGS, yayyyy! Why does Annaliese always have an issue or a traumatic experience from her childhood? Where did she grow up?? Aw, these dogs are so fun and cute! Yay for doggy dates. ABC STOP WITH THE DUMB FLASHBACK CLIPS. Is Annaliese paying you to showcase all of her issues? Why do they need to make the dogs do stuff? Can't they just play in the park with the doggys and lay down with them? Annaliese you feel behind because you are scared of your shadow. Wow, that girl (don't know her name) was practically crawling to him. Talking about the place your hanging at during your alone time means he is not into you. Do you have to have a leather jacket to be on this season? Shoot, I missed who got the rose (and yes, I watched this on DVR so I can fast forward the commercials), but I got distracted by Amanda Stanton's IG story (how cute is she and her littles?)

Rose Ceremony: OMG, Lauren B moved into Bibiana's outdoor setup, I'm dying. I like Lauren B, they would be cute together. Stopppp, now he brought someone else out there. No way and another girl. This is priceless and produced. He said "guarding his heart" and now I can't stop thinking about that guy who kept saying "guard and protect your heart" like 4 seasons ago (maybe Jojo's season??) Arie just gives me the creeps, especially when his voice gets low. Annaliese you are going home, sorry girl. I like Tia, she is super cute. And that glittery dress is so pretty. Oh no, bye Bibiana! Broken? Get out of here, you are embarrassed cause you went on this show for this loser and got sent home. Sorry not sorry.

Preview: on the move to Tahoe! How old do we think she is? 22? 23? Oh dramsssss is coming next week, buckle up babes, xo!

About ONE WAY TICKET

Would you switch lives with someone you just met?

Sabrina Monroe is poised and ready for her future as Mrs. Todd Edward Blakely. Everything seems perfect, but on the big day, suddenly she's not so sure. Her nicely mapped out life ahead of her, she finds herself in her own movie scene as the runaway bride, climbing out of the bathroom window. All she can think is escape.

Addison Bloom needs a life makeover. She's travelled the world to find love--and failed. On her way back from yet another friend's wedding, she starts to feel ill at the mere thought of seeing another veil that's not hers. Should she go back home and marry her former sweetheart, or stick it out looking for love in her new home?

Sabrina and Addison are both on the run, wanting to escape to a new life. As the two strangers talk at an airport, discovering they have the same job at opposite ends of the country, a crazy idea unfolds--one which might provide the answers they've both been looking for.

Is there such a thing as a One Way Ticket to a new life, or will they find they're running from themselves, not just the past?

Excerpt #1

I shifted around in my first class seat, trying to get as comfortable as I could, despite the circumstances of my impromptu trip. I was supposed to be on a plane to my dream honeymoon right now, getting ready to kick off a week of basking in the island sunshine, with a frozen cocktail in my hand. My handsome new husband by my side . . .
Instead, I was sitting on a plane, going to an unfamiliar place to take over a stranger’s life.
What the hell?
I rubbed my temples vigorously and took another sip of my vodka tonic. The plane hadn’t even taken off yet, and a part of me was ready to make a run for it . . . again.
I wondered what would happen if I tried to exit the plane during the boarding process? I’ve never seen that happen before. Would I be jumped by a bunch of airport employees? I could imagine Sheila, the cheerful flight attendant, kicking off her navy pumps and jumping on top of me to restrain me from creating panic throughout the plane.
How would I explain my reasons to the travel authorities? I was positive they wouldn’t take me seriously if I told them I had just run away from my wedding. Yes—run away. I’m talking escaped out the bathroom window, just like Rachel in Friends.
Not to mention that, up until a few hours ago, I was wandering aimlessly around the airport in my wedding dress—the dress my mother made me wear. Believe me, it was beautiful, just not the style I would have chosen for the most important day of my life.
I let out a sigh and took another sip of my drink. I had no doubt my photo was already plastered all over social media by now. As soon as the security guards saw my dress go through the scanner, they realized I was “the runaway bride.” Gossip sure traveled fast.
I could already see the caption on the news: “Crazy runaway bride tears through the Dallas/Fort Worth International airport in wedding gown.”

bachelor recap | week 2

Weird that we're back here again so soon ;)  Spoilers ahead cause it's a recap, duh.

One on One: with Becca K. I don't know much about her or remember her from night one. This date is kinda weird-all about her, like why not get to know her? Rachel Zoe = yassssss! Rachel's assistant in that millennial pink, YASSSS times two! (sidebar; Jason Demers from the Arizone Coyotes-hockey team, googled Arie and he's won one race. Calm down with the damn champs spraying.) This date is obviously every girl's dream, but it was just a weird first date to me. They didn't seem to get to know each other so far. I'm loving the reaction from the girls when she comes back. (hahah, love the girls that are chatting after and say "they are going to get married") Okay, part two of their date-he is into her, I like that he said to go to him with any questions. Wait a second, is she proposal girl from night one? Someone please tell me it is... She gets the rose and I think she'll be around for a long time to come!

One on One: with Krystal-the fitness coach. Love her outfit, that gray tank, ripped jeans, peep-toe booties-here for it! I really like this date, it's casual and shows more about him. Wait a second, is this the high school from High School Musical? Literally that cafeteria is the same (I know they filmed in AZ...) Brought her to his house, oh damn. When they pulled in the driveaway and she said "we're home!" I could totally see this being their life. Is it a red flag that he brought her home to his parents so soon? Did he want to get their take on her? Or was he like guys, this is her-love at first site type of deal? Ohh what a cool spot for dinner! I would like to give her some more mascara, glam her up a little more. Her growing up story is making me sad, I feel really bad for her. I want her to win just so she can have a family in Arie's. Rose for her, she's going far. Singer is kinda hot, never heard of him, but okay cutie you sing it out. *I think it's okay she was vague about their date, BUT it just put a huge target on her back.

Group Date: demo derby with a bunch of girls-15 (I believe!) way too many girls on this date, are we rushing this ABC or what? Designing their own card this sounds fun! The scared-y cat-this is your worst nightmare? (the bumper car flashback-ABC is having TOO MUCH FUN with this...) Jenny, there's a Jenny? And she's a savage. Chris Harrison is also a savage with that dad joke. I watched the whole demo derby with a puzzled face. After party time, Chelsea steals him first to apologize and tell Arie about her son, Sammy. Yale girl & winner of the date is a world traveler, I like her, she seems really nice. I don't think she's the one tho. Ut oh, Bibiana is gonna lose her shit soon. Oh damn, she's going off. Here's my thoughts on getting time with him in settings like this, you have to fight for your time. If that makes you a bitch, then fine. You aren't here to make friends, yes, that's nice if you do, but you have to remember why you are there. There's ONE of him. Yale girl-Seinne gets the rose! I bet Chelsea is pissed cause it seemed like he was going to give it to her.

Rose Ceremony: when it's at the beginning this part is so overwhelming to recap because I barely know any of their names (I'm generally bad with names.) Short haired Becka, he is into her. Now back to my thoughts on getting time with him, once you have a rose, you shouldn't keep trying to get extra attention (two sit downs at the cocktail party) is a little much. That puts a HUGE target on your back-Krystal, boo, you got 2 strikes this episode. I like the idea of truth or dare an ice breaker. Lots of girls get roses and then really is the melting pot of all girls I think. They are all pretty different. At this point, I just can't wait to see the preview for next week. Oh no, is savage Jenny going home? Shoot, I liked her for the 18 seconds we saw her on the group date. OH DAMN, she walked right by him...I told you, this girl is a SAVAGE. "I'm not sad about you, I'm sad about leaving my friends." Ew his dad like "alright give me a hug".

Preview: faake fighting/wrestling, private jets, kisses, already saying "you're my person", "I'm the only woman in the world" (which umm, no honey, no.), more Krystal fighting, tears...can't wait, xo!

bachelor recap | week 1

I’ll start with this, I’m not a huge Arie fan. At all. I don’t find him cute and he’s not my vibe. But let’s go see if he can find love and our next bachelorette!

Ugh, I loved Emily. Her fashion was so good her season. And that Fiji nail polish every episode had me thinking about changing my mani each week. Sean and Catherine’s son, Samuel has the same take on Arie as I do-see him sit on his lap for negative .5 seconds? Same little buddy, same.

Time to meet the girls: Single mom-cute and I see her going far. (Edit: the more I watch the more she gets on my nerves. They love going back to her confessional sessions) The realtor-I like her! Raven’s friend-see her going far too! I think she’s a good match for Arie. Of course the taxidermy lover says “I know who I am”’as she gets ready to play her ukulele. Oh the fitness coach-I really like her!! Bri the sports reporter is SUPER cute. Love her! (Ps-I’m not digging the new font for the names, ages, occupations...) Is it just me or do all of these girls look the same? I thought the proposal first impression was really cute and different. I think the Lauren’s are all really cute and contenders. How many girls are there this season?! Sheesh, this is going on for-ev-er. The girl who makes him smell her armpit with the pit stop joke-yikes that’s a weird ice breaker. I like this photographer girl, damnnn the girls this season seem chatty af, watching her introduction, I think at some point you just need to make yourself stand out and hope the Bachelor takes notice. Think about it the tattletale, only talks about the other people in the house person never is around at the end.

Ewww that first kiss (after the race-which was cute!) was awkward and then she said “you are a good kisser” after a peck. Okay, I take it back about Chelsea the single mom. I can’t with her. The dark haired realtor will be the next bachelorette-I'm calling it now. Jenna-the pedicure girl is she drunk?!

First Impression Rose: Chelsea the single mom who was cute, but then got too much TV time for my liking. Do we think she got it because she sat with him twice?

Rose Ceremony: At this point, I don't really know many of their names (each season I always say I'm going to write down my faves names and make like a flow chart, but whoops) I can't believe how long it takes to go through that whole first night. It's now daylight people, that shit is cray! To Amber the business owner, please don't think YOU did something wrong. You have to try to stand out among 29 other beautiful girls.

This season looks great, I can't wait for the drams, tears, fashion, and love to come! Cya tomorrow on our regular day and time for the recap from this week :) xo!

a book in review!

Brief Summary:

Beautiful. Perfect. Dead.
In the peaceful seaside town of Cape Bonita, wicked secrets and lies are hidden just beneath the surface. But all it takes is one tragedy for them to be exposed.
The most popular girls in school are turning up dead, and Penelope Malone is terrified she's next. All the victims so far have been linked to Penelope―and to a boy from her physics class. The one she's never really noticed before, with the rumored dark past and a brooding stare that cuts right through her.
There's something he isn't telling her. But there's something she's not telling him, either.
Everyone has secrets, and theirs might get them killed.

Review:

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. OH. MY. GEE. This book has it all. The twists and turns don't stop and right when you think you figured it out, bam-you're wrong! I love a good mystery and this just does not disappoint. It's right up there with Pretty Little Liars and We Were Liars (just in the twist & turns department!) I may have read this in 2017, but trust me, this book will be on a bunch of 2018 best books/best seller lists. I love Monica's writing style and she was made for the YA mystery genre. I recommend this 5 star book to anyone who needs to get lost down a rabbit hole to figure out just what is going on in Cape Bonita, xo!
