bachelorette recap | week 2

Okay, let's get into these dates!

Group Date; with Clay, Nick, Chris R, David, Jordan, Connor, Lincoln, Jean Blanc starting off with changing into tuxes with Becca having a hard time keeping her eyes off the eye candy. Jordan thinks women still wear pantyhose (real Princesses do, it's part of the royal code, but real women not so much!)...I cannot stand him. OMG BRYAN, HIIIIIIIYEEEEEEE! Missed you cutie, phew! Ah, I love a good obstacle course. The ice bath is hilarious, I love that they did that cause some of these guys are being such bitches about it! Lincoln is a complete cheater-sheesh, I'm super competitive, but play by the rules.

Cocktail party after the course, I can't get a good read on Lincoln, is he being genuine? I'm not totally sure. Becca seems into the kiss, but also like he's being a little too aggressive. The guys are not happy about this photo! I feel like Clay is going to cry every time he talks. Lincoln is talking with the picture and kissing it, he is this season's Corrine. Connor throws the picture and breaks it and Lincoln gets more time. These guys are worse then the women. I really like the Becca just handles these things and steps up right away. Past seasons, they let it linger and talk to others rather then the culprit. I LOVE HER OUTFIT. Sorry for the caps, just realized. Jean Blanc gets the rose (even though it sounded like they were calling him Shawn...idk.)

Photogate is a hot topic amongst the men, no one can figure out if or when Lincoln will strike next. Or will Connor go home? Let's see..

One on One; Blake. He looks very young to me, it says 28, but he looks 24. Becca let Chris Harrison plan the date. Blake and Bec show up at a warehouse where Chris tells them they get to demolish stuff, which to me sounds like a fun time! She is making those coveralls look good with that belt. Everything they are going to eff up is stuff from her past with Arie. I'm all about an ex purge, but not with your new potential man! Becca is definitely going to smash things if they turns badly for her again, so beware boys.

Dinner (even though they don't eat) portion of the date and I think they are having a great time. Blake seems level headed, fun, and a tad reserved which balances Becca's outgoing & bubbly presence. They are having a great conversation and I can see them together. I think he is a front runner, I'm DEF rooting for him! He gets a rose-well duh!

Group Date; with Garrett, Trent, Leo, Wills, Colton, Ricky, Christon, John, I missed a name or two... a school bus picks these guys up and they are headed to play dodgeball. It was fun to watch them and Leo is a great competitor.

Cocktail party, next to the pool with Garrett. I like them together, he is very cute. They complement each other nicely. Ut ohhh, some drams is headed our way. Colton dated cute little Tia from last season (who we all know I loved!). Bec and Tia are friends, yikes, this could get bumpy. Oh wait, he said " a weekend together" sooo, not a relationship per se, but still messy. She is DEAD quiet when he tells her, she says he's really attractive, but this is putting her in a strange position. Wills gets the rose which surprises me, but their one on one time was good.

Rose Ceremony; Clay's one on one time was kinda cute, but he is still so MEH for me. Becca looks great in blue! I thought John's poem was going to end with "I promise you I'm a big nerd" instead of "I promise you I'll never get you hurt". Connor redeems himself by having her launch his photo. Jordan decides to go out to his one on one time with Becca in his underwear...cause he's a male model. WHY DO WE HAVE TO KEEP SAYING MALE MODEL? We get it, he is a male. His time with her is weird and then he argues with whoever he stole her away from (sorry, I missed his name!) Jordan has got to go, I get why they need him (to draw in all the viewers to see what dumb shit he'll do next, but come on!) Oh she kept Colton! Let's see where this leads...cause if anything it'll make for great TV. Alex was this season's first crier, they breakdown earlier and earlier it seems.

Next week looks good with some cute moments and it looks like my fave Blake is having great times with her. TIA IS HERE. If I hear one more time that Jordan isn't "here for the right reasons", I'm gonna lose it. See you then babes, until them DM me, comment, email, whatever let's just DISCUSS this episode, xo!

a book in review!

Brief Summary:
The second novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy wraps up an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.

The truth hurts, they say—and my pain cuts deep. While I was falling for Ethan, he was deceiving me the entire time. He held a huge secret, protected by his lies. When I discovered what he was hiding, the truth shook my world, threatening to ruin us forever. Ruin me. But I soon realized that what we share can’t be destroyed.

The connection between us is too strong. It always has been. I can’t deny him any longer. And I can’t deny my truth: I’m in love with Ethan.

I don’t want to let him go.

While we’re trying our best to make this relationship work, other forces are fighting against us. My family, who wants to keep me safe. The media obsessed with my tragic past. The public that feeds off of it. Even Ethan’s father—the man who nearly destroyed me all those years ago. He’s doing his best to finish the job.

Despite my love for Ethan, the doubts creep in, clouding my mind. Is he worth the pain? Will our love survive, or will we have no choice but to end it—end us—once and for all?

Review:
I love Monica's writing style so when I saw she wrote a two-parter (the first one ends on a cliffhanger so this book is a MUST read.) and I had no plans on a Sunday, I was all in. This story literally picks up where the last one left off. Where are the first book was a rollercoster heading forward, this is that same coaster and now it's heading in reverse. There's as many ups and downs as the first book and you will be turning the pages to see how it ends up for Katie and Ethan. I highly recommend this 5 star book to anyone who needs a book they will not be able to put down, xo!

bachelorette recap | week 1

Here we go! Becca is taking on the role as Bachette and I'm SO excited for her season. She is a real chick and someone I could totally see myself grabbing brunch with her! If you missed out on my IG story where I explain why I am posting my recaps on Monday's, here's a refresher: I've decided I will watch the Bachette on Sundays and post my blog post on Monday. You can consider it a refresher before you watch the new episode! I just seem to have a lot going on and last season I was watching episodes at 1am to scramble to have this up on Tuesday. Once we get to the finale, I'm pretty sure I will watch that last night live and recap for Tuesday, but stay tuned-I will keep you informed.

Yay, past Bachelorettes including my ALL TIME FAVE JoJo...her and Jordan are COMPLETE GOALS. I like the girls advice, they are being real with her and giving her sound advice of remembering to think outside of this bubble. Who knew Rachel was so funny? All of their first impression roses when to the GUY, wow how freaking cute and TELLING?! I'm keeping a very close eye on this...

Intros; Clay the football player-talks funny, seems like a nice guy. Garret the goofball-based off looks, they'd make a cute couple. Jordan the model-you already know what I think about him, how can one person be this annoying?!? He's gotta go. Lincoln the one with the accent-seems nice, super fit! Joe the grocer-reminds me of the guy they have to have on each season, thinks he's more than he is. Jean Blanc the collector-sigh. Colton the football player who dated Aly the olympian-I loved how he courted Aly, so maybe he'll have a cute story with Bec! (Also, I follow him on IG because of the whole Aly thing..)

Arrivals; She looks stunning in the white gown! Colton is first out and I like the confetti cannons-super cute and a great ice breakers. Grant seems like a regular guy, like him. Not into Clay and her comment about him was "he's so nervous"-eek. Jean Blanc teaching french with "let's do the damn thing!"-cute. Connor no socks, short, and proposing-he's a cutie tho. Joe is a meh, meh, meh. John looks like Benjamin Button-old! Leo with the WILD hair and he's a stunt man. Jordan the model, oof, he SCREAMS he is here to further his "brand" or "IG endorsement career". Rickey just like the tie. Alex another meh. Nick in a racing suit, wtf? An Arie cutout-yikesss Mike. A minivan? Wow, Garrett showing her the minivan? EEK. Don't these guys say to their friends "this is my idea for a first impression" and no one says "dude, do not do that." Blake on a horse, they had a cute little moment at ATFR, cute little moment now. Lincoln has a cute smile! Christon, meh. Wills the closet nerd, meh. Jason with the handshake-cute intro. I didn't catch 60/40s name, but he won't be around. No socks and no bowtie for Jake who apparently she knows from home? Hurst guy, yikesssss, Trent. Missed one I was snapping. Then David the chicken came and well, he isn't the winner so...Now there's a guy (Chris maybe?) who brought a choir, cute that they are dancing. I can see her with him (also he looks really familiar.)

Shorty-Connor stole her. He's cute and seems genuine.  Clay brought out the clay and I just can't. I believe in this process cause my Grandparents got married after 3 weeks! So ha-Chris, take your grandparents 2 months and shove it. Okay, Christon that was epic! Last thing they should do is bring out something to make them more competitive on night one! The poem guy looks like the guy from Rach's season..Eric! He looks like him! I keep getting nervous that someone is going to kiss her, but she won't want to kiss them. Her and Blake are having a really nice chat and connection. Man she is such a good sport-doing the chicken dance with David. Oh shit, DRAMAAAAA, with Chase and Chris. Chase was at ATFR, his ex said that he is trying to revamp his marking career and use the show to help him. "Here for the right reasons" should be a trademarked by ABC, they will make BANK. He isn't denying it, he's just talking about his ex and how they weren't really together. Yikes, I don't think I trust Chase one bit.

Okay, now she's sitting with Jake who hangs in her circle at home. She is not into what he is saying/isn't saying. Like he should be saying "omg, I've been dying to get to know you and always have seen you and wanted to.." Oh he had a transformative year, wow, great, super. Sending Jake H-O-M-E...CYA and that two-fold bowtie.

Minivan gets the 1st impression rose-remember this people! Oh, they're kissingggggg. AHHH-I could see them together for sure.

Rose Ceremony; she's keeping lots of guys I could see her with. Why did they make the chicken put the head back on? I don't have much of a front runner, but I do see Garrett, Connor, David, Chris, and Colton going far.

Preview looks FULL of drama- I mean we already had lots of drams night one and I'm so excited for this season. Stay tuned for my recap next Monday and leave your picks in the comments, xo!

a book in review!

Brief Summary:

Perfect for readers of Colleen Hoover, Jay Crownover, and K. A. Tucker, the first novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy kicks off an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.

Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I'm a fifteen-year-old again--the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She's grown-up now--beautiful, quiet, composed--and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.

I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she's safe.

Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.

So, yeah, I'm stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she'll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.

My father.

Review:
I love Monica's writing style so when I saw she wrote a two-parter (the this one ends on a cliffhanger so the second book is a MUST read.) and I had no plans on a Sunday, I was all in. This story has tons of drama and dark moments which make for a gripping read, but it has more than that. This story has heart, you will be rooting for hard for Katherine. What happens to her is heartbreaking and following her along on her journey really makes you think about what happens to victims of these sort of crimes. I recommend this 5 star read to anyone who is looking to get lost in a very well written page turner, xo!

Happy Release Day with a review!

Brief Summary:
Kristy Martin is twenty-something, single and living it up in Chicago. She has a crew of close girlfriends to keep her social calendar active, and is celebrating finally securing employment in her chosen field. While always free-spirited, Kristy is getting tired of the revolving door – or more accurately, bed – of random guys and failed dates, and comes up with a plan to get her act together when it comes to the opposite sex. That idea is quickly shot down by her bestie Breely Laver and replaced with a bet she can’t refuse – a free trip to Paris with her yoga instructor BFF if she can go six months without sex.

Enter in charming, sexy, delicious Grey Grahl. Kristy tries to navigate a spicy new relationship without giving away her bet, while also dealing with an incredibly sensitive crisis at her job. Her first year as a full-time elementary school guidance counselor starts off with a devastating situation with a young student, and Kristy finds herself struggling to stay above water in both her professional and personal life. With her girlfriends as a support system, Kristy navigates troubled times at the school and agrees to come clean with Grey.

This first book in a six-part girlfriend series introduces you to Kristy, Breely, Nora, Lauren, Tinsley and Scarlett, and takes readers on six individual stories about relationships, career choices, personal conflict and the bond of friendship.

Review:
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Samantha is one of the best story tellers who goes into detail, but not overly where you can still create your perfect views of the characters in your head. Her writing style will hook you and you will need to read everything she writes! When she decided to take on a series featuring a group of girlfriends, I was all in. I love series and this book is so realistic, it's unreal. Kristy is the perfect lead to start off the series; she's likeable, real, vulnerable, and you will think of her as a girl in your circle. If you want your first beach read, look no further than this 5 star book, xo!

When art history student Clementine Jones receives a message complimenting her latest internship project, she doesn’t hesitate to answer it.

She never dreamed that this decision would not only change her life but the future of the British monarchy as well.

Her response leads Clementine to the mysterious CP Chadwick, a British man studying history at Cambridge. Clementine finds CP charming, smart, and unlike any man she’s ever met. Most of all, when she confides her medical past to CP, his perception of her doesn’t change. He doesn’t treat her as fragile like her parents do. CP sees her as normal, which is something she cherishes.

Clementine, however, has no idea that CP is actually Prince Christian of Wales, who has never had a “normal” life. Christian is at a crossroad. His destiny is to be a working royal, but he is desperate to fill that role in his own way. Wary of others, he’s kept himself closed off from the world—until he lets Clementine in.

A royal romance is never a fairy tale, but Clementine and Christian are determined to write their own version. Can they overcome their own fears—as well as the constraints of a royal life—to reach their own happily ever after?

Review:
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I love the Royals, there's something so glamorous about the regal life, so when Aven decided she was going to tackle the monarchy I was ALL IN! Clementine is the everyday, average girl and she has an ordinary thing happen to her, she gets a DM on IG from a stranger. But this stranger is about to change her whole life. This story has everything a romantic comedy should have; a prince, tons of funny moments, a relatable heroine, and hope in love. Clem and Christian's story made me fall in love with romance all over again. If you have a Royal Wedding hangover, pick this up and swoon all over again. I promise this 5 star best seller will be everything you need in your next favorite love story, xo!

PROLOGUE
THE MESSAGE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

I pop open my umbrella, trying to shield myself from the unrelenting rain that is cascading down on Palo Alto. I move around to the back of my Ford SUV, which is nearly as old as the sun, and open the hatch to find my dog waiting impatiently.
“Come here, Bear,” I say, stifling a yawn as I wait for my Airedale rescue to come to me. I juggle the umbrella, sticking the handle under my arm, and grab Bear’s collar. Bear begins to lick my face, and despite the fact that I’ve just left work, and it’s three o’clock in the morning, and I’m standing in the cold rain, I smile. “You’re such a good boy. I’m lucky I can take you to work with me, you know that?”
I help Bear down and slam the hatch shut. I re-adjust the umbrella, and l walk through the parking lot, shivering as the rain pelts my face. Northern California is chilly this January night, the temperature below forty now. I see my breath escape in puffs in the damp air, and even though it’s late, and I have class at nine tomorrow—er, today, actually—I want a cup of hot chocolate before bed.
I grin despite the weather and the hour. My beverage selection hasn’t changed since I was five. You can keep your fancy coffees and exotic teas. I’ll take a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream for the win every time. Besides, when you walk down the street with a cup full of hot chocolate from a coffee shop, nobody is the wiser that it’s not some fancy latte.
I take a minute to let Bear do his business before directing him toward my building. I close my umbrella as soon as we’re under shelter, and Bear leads me up the stairs, pulling me along because he doesn’t like the rain. I glance up at the fourplex where we live, built in the 1940s and not far from the Stanford campus where I’m in my last semester of school. I love living here. I share a two-bedroom corner unit with my best friends at Stanford, Bryn Ryan and Chelsea Beckwith. Since Bryn has a steady boyfriend, she has a room to herself. At least that is what Chelsea and I told her. The fact that she talks in her sleep all night long and never shuts up is the real reason, however.
Sometimes a little white lie is a super handy tool.
I put my key in the lock and turn it gently. I’ve become a pro at making a quiet entry since I started my internship at the Fashion Mall of San Jose. The upscale shopping center has a curated art collection that rotates museum-level art throughout the mall, giving the public free access to incredible pieces. I assist the art coordinator with the exhibits and community art outreach programs. Even if I have to do sculpture installations in the middle of the night and go to classes half-dead the next day, it’s been a great learning experience.
My dream job, however, is working with antiques in either an auction house or a museum. I love the stories objects can tell, and how they can be used to pass down history from generation to generation. It’s fascinating to me, and that is the focus I want to pursue after graduation this June.
I open the door and step inside, grabbing a towel out of the basket next to the door. I take a moment to wipe his paws and belly before letting Bear off his leash. As soon as I shut the door behind us, I hear the squeaking of a bed and the sound of it banging against the living room wall.
“OH, GRAHAM! YES!” Bryn screams. “RIGHT THERE! RIGHT THERE!”
Before I’m even out of my coat, I’m fumbling for my phone and earbuds. Please let me get them in before she reaches the height of orgasm.
“GRAHAM! YOU ARE SO G—”
Bryn’s cries are cut off by the sounds of Harry Styles singing “Sign of the Times” in my ears. Whew! That was a close call, I think, as I slip out of my trench coat and kick off my wet Converse kicks.
But now I’ll never know if Graham is:
So Good
So Gorgeous
So Gigantic
So … Godly?
Sometimes it’s best for things to remain shrouded in mystery.
I head into the kitchen, grab a hot chocolate cup for the Keurig, and place my favorite mug underneath it—my Disney mug with Princess Ariel on it. My older sister, Paisley, got it for me because she said I reminded her of Ariel, with my long, flaming-red hair and love of the water. Mom missed her opportunity to name me after a Disney princess, choosing Clementine instead. She said the first time she saw my little head with its patch of red hair I reminded her of a sweet orange. Hmm. Maybe it says something that she thought not of princesses but of food when she first laid eyes on me. I probably should be offended, but glancing down at my ripped jeans and favorite charcoal V-neck sweater, I’m definitely closer to a citrus fruit than a princess.
If I were to be a princess, though, I’d be more like Fiona from Shrek. I love her. Fiona is spirited. Independent. Strong. She can save herself, which makes her fabulous.
Soon my hot cocoa is ready, and I take it over to the sofa and sink down into the cushions. Harry continues to sing to me as I reach for the remote and flip on the TV.
Another great mystery of the universe that remains unsolved to me is how I can have hundreds of TV channels at my disposal and still find absolutely nothing to watch. I skim over horror movies—no thank you; adult cinema, which I have playing in the room next door if I care to hear a live version; TV shopping; old sitcoms I don’t like; and news. Meh.
I stop on some wildlife hunter trying to capture a dangerous rattlesnake and leave it there as background light. It’s now ten after three. I’m going to give myself until four to unwind, drink my hot chocolate, and climb into bed. I take a sip of my steaming drink, closing my eyes as the warm liquid sides down my throat, and feeling the much-needed warmth. Ah. Bear jumps up on the sofa and drops his big head into my lap, and all feels right in my world.
I put my thumb on my phone to unlock it and see I have some notifications. Some are for Facebook, and there’s a text from Paisley, and a slew of emails from companies that I signed up for to get a discount and now get bombarded daily as a reminder to never again give out my email for ten percent off. I have some Instagram likes and a direct message in my inbox from someone I don’t know.
Curiosity gets the better of me, and I decide to read it. The profile pic from the stranger is of a beautiful setter-type dog. Inside is my picture from last month’s The Ritual of Tea exhibit, when we installed a piece that represented the bamboo tea whisks that are used to make matcha tea. The message reads: Ms. Jones,
I was scrolling through Instagram recommendations—yes, I realise I don’t have a life if this is what I’m doing at night instead of going to a pub quiz, so let’s get that out of the way upfront—and came across your account. The idea of tea whisks two stories tall inside of a shopping centre is quite fascinating, more so because I prefer matcha to English Breakfast or Earl Grey. You had me with the tea whisks, and I confess to spending the rest of the night checking out the art installations on your Insta. I don’t know why I’m writing to you; you probably think I’m a stalker. Well, I guess if I spend the night going through your Insta account I am, but I assure you it’s not in a creepy way but rather in a “this-is-interesting way.” Regardless, it looks like you have a job you love, and for that, you are one incredibly lucky woman.
CP
I stare at the message in shock. This is the first one I’ve ever received about my work. And this CP—whoever he or she is—has a sense of humor. I click on CP’s account and read the profile: Student of History and Politics at the University of Cambridge. Lover of dogs and odd-flavoured M&M’s. Appreciates a good pint with his mates and beating them soundly on pub quiz nights.
Hmm. The account is set to private. He’s a male. At least that is what he says. I mean, who knows if any of this is real? CP could be an elderly woman in a retirement home for all I know. But CP does have fifteen followers. Fifteen? Wow. This person is very picky about who they allow to follow them. I elect to allow the message and decide to test this “CP” and message him back: CP,
Thank you for your kind words. I’m happy to know someone appreciates the work we do to bring art to the public in an easy, free, accessible way. We hope to expose people to art who never might have gone out of their way to look for it. I feel like a kind of commando in that regard.
I crept on your page, but I can’t see much since it’s private. You say that you study at Cambridge. First, I would like to see proof that this is true. You might be in a retirement village in Boca for all I know, or some woman named Mildred chatting with me and laughing with her friends around the four o’clock early bird dinner. Or you could be a cheating husband from Houston looking for a piece on the side. I need verification that you are indeed a student of history and politics at Cambridge, or the jig is up, CP.
CJ
P.S. What is a pub quiz? You mentioned it in your message, and it’s in your profile. Obviously, you have some kind of thing for it.
Then I hit send.
I take another sip of my hot chocolate, getting some whipped cream on my nose. I rub Bear’s head affectionately and feel the vibrating on the other side of the wall has stopped. Yay, I won’t have to sleep with earplugs in tonight. Victory is mine!
Beep!
I glance down at my phone. CP has sent me another direct message on Instagram.
I set my mug on our circa 1991 end table, swiped from my mom’s storage unit, and eagerly open the message.
It’s one picture.
A sign above a glass door reads the “Alison Richard Building,” and the landscape is dusted with snow. In fact, falling snowflakes dot the picture. There’s a hand extending forward, the left hand, holding up a textbook of a political nature. A silver Rolex watch adorns his wrist, peeking out from underneath what looks like a black cashmere overcoat.
I eagerly read his message:
Ms. Jones,
As you can see, I am standing outside of the Alison Richard Building at Cambridge. Google should provide validation that this is not a retirement village. You can also see I’m holding my textbook for part of my year three studies and, according to my watch, it’s twenty past eleven my time. Now my hands are about to go numb, as I had to take off my gloves to type this, so my other validation pictures will come after my lecture.
CP
P.S. I will answer the pub quiz question later, if you are inclined to send me a follow request. As you did admit to creeping on my account, you know I have fifteen followers. We’ll see if you make that sixteen, if you are curious about a bloke in Cambridge who likes dogs and mysterious pub quizzes.
Ooh!
My heart flutters. CP is sharp. He’s British and at Cambridge, and he has to be near my age, right? He loves dogs, and he’s not wearing a parka but an overcoat.
With epic watch porn.
It takes me less than one second to make my decision.
I click follow on his profile.
As soon as he accepts my request, I’ll be CP’s sixteenth follower.
A weird sensation fills me, one I’ve never felt before.
I think this decision, to follow the mysterious CP, will change my life.
I don’t know why, but something in the stars must be aligned for a guy from Cambridge to randomly stumble on my Instagram feed and begin a conversation that already has my heart fluttering.
How it will change things remains unseen.
But I’m curious to see where it goes.

Royal Wedding Fever!

As someone who always thought they were a Princess (okay, I probably still think I am one...) I was BEYOND thrilled when Aven decided to take on her very own Royal story and guess what?? You can now pre-order this sweet story and it will drop on your kindle on May 16th!

Blurb:

Try It Tuesday | Creme Shop Fusion Sheet Mask

I don't know about you, but I can get lost in the skincare aisle in any drugstore trying to find the perfect sheet mask. I found this one a while ago (I almost bought a "jelly mask", but that made me nervous so I went with a yogurt one instead.) and just tried it, so here's my thoughts!

Here are the product details;
The Creme Shop's fusion mask is designed to deliver the benefits of two masks with just one application.
Raspberry's super power: Fights off toxins. Anthocyanins in raspberries combat the growth of bacteria and fungi for fresh, clear skin.
Yogurt's super power: Makes skin glow in the dark (well, almost). Lactic acid in yogurt removes dead skin cells to reveal a bright and luminous complexion.
Not only is each mask infused with two ingredients, it is also rich in the ultimate moisturizer: hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid's super power: Retains moisture. One gram can hold up to six liters of water. When skin lacks moisture, it can become cracked, aged, and dull.
Hyaluronic acid keeps skin young and perfectly dewy.

Here's what I think;
Smell-none!
Feeling-like a normal sheet mask, but it fit perfectly. I loved that it was 20-30 minute wear time, but you could keep it on until dry.
Aftermath-my skin felt SO smooth after. It wasn't sticky, but just a little wet (not overly wet). As the product dried down it left my skin feeling extra hydrated, soft, and glowy.
Will I repurchase? ABSOLUTELY! For the price, this is a MUST TRY. I can't believe how good my skin felt right after and even the next day!

To Purchase;

What sheet mask is your go-to? Let me know so I can try, xo!

a book in review!

Brief Summary:
"How could we know that forever could end at seventeen?”

Anyone passing through North Shore, Illinois, would think it was the most picture-perfect place ever, with all the lakefront mansions and manicured hedges and iron gates. No one talks about the fact that the brilliant, talented kids in town have a terrible history of throwing themselves in front of commuter trains.

Meet Simone, the bohemian transfer student from London, who is thrust into the strange new reality of an American high school; Mallory, the hypercompetitive queen bee; and Stephen, the first-generation genius who struggles with crippling self-doubt. Each one is shocked when a popular classmate takes his own life…except not too shocked. It’s happened before. With so many students facing their own demons, can they find a way to save each other—as well as themselves?

Review:
I really love Jen Lancaster's work so I was excited to dive into this dark story about a rich and bright town where a bunch of kids commit suicide. The story is told from a few point of views, but there's times it just falls a little short. I wanted more. There is one point in particular where I really needed some closure for one of the characters and the moment never really happened. While I overall really liked this book, I wanted more. I recommend this 4 star book to anyone who likes dark reads that come from different character's perspectives, xo!

Review:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. His Wasted Heart was the perfect second course to this trilogy. It had exactly what you want in a second book; lots of ups, some downs, and a plot thickening ending. Rhett’s point of view made this even more enjoyable as you got to really get a feel for his character. I also felt like I really got a better take on Jensen while reading from Rhett’s POV as well! The book picks up right where the first left off and I’m hoping the same happens for the third. I also hope that book 3 alternates between both Jensen and Rhett’s POV because I feel like that would be the icing on the cake and make for the perfect ending! I recommend this 4 star book to anyone who loves a steamy and well-placed story that shows you just how a guy thinks when he wants what he sometimes can’t have, xo!

a book in review!

Brief Summary:
Nerd. Weird. Ugly. That's me. And I don't want it to be anymore.

Now is my time to make my mark on the world. My college roommate doesn't make it easy. Neither does her brother, Jesse, but for completely different reasons. He makes me feel things I've never felt before.

Wanted. Important. Beautiful.

But we can't be together because it isn't real. Someone like him could never fall for someone like me. We aren't meant to fit together.

Even if I fall apart without him.

 Review:
I was browsing through books I had bought off of BookBub (which seriously, sign up now!) and decided to give this one a shot. While it had great moments, it also had moments where you wanted to smack the main character because she was so stuck in her head. It makes the story feel more real. Violet's coming of age journey has all a chick lit reader needs; drama, love, laughs, tug at the heart string moments. I recommend this 3 star book to anyone who's looking for a quick, good weekend read, xo!

Try It Tuesday | Bath & Body Works Sheet Mask

Who knew that B&BW made sheet masks?! Not me, until a few weeks ago when I did a double take at my local mall! I knew I had to get my hands on one of these bad boys and decided on the Shea based one, cause we all know my skin type is dry, dry, dry.

Here are the product details from Bathandbodyworks.com;
Our nourishing face sheet mask with shea butter & jojoba oil is designed to infuse your skin with supercharged ingredients. Your face will feel smooth as butter. Shea butter, that is. Trade your dry winter woes for skin that glows!

Here's what I think;
Smell-No smell!
Feeling-It has a milky consistancy when you take it out of the package and is VERY wet! Doesn't smooth out as good as other sheet masks, but it did have a good shape.
Aftermath-My skin has NEVER felt smoother! There was a lot of left over product after wearing for 18 minutes, so I wiped it all over and it dried down really nicely.
Will I repurchase? Absolutely! I'm excited to try more of their masks! Lives up to the promise above :)

To Purchase
B&BW $4.95 or 3 for $12 right now!

Have you used any of the Bath & Body Works sheet masks? Let me know, xo!

Guest Post by Gina Dickerson

What inspired Mortiswood

It wasn’t really a conscious decision to write in the dark, urban fantasy genre. The idea of Mortiswood first came to me while I was on holiday with my family. We were staying at a holiday cottage – a farmhouse – in Devon. The farmhouse was set in about twenty acres of land, a mix of woodland and fields. It was down a really long drive and overlooked both the fields and woods. We could even see deer from the kitchen window!

One afternoon when everyone else was off swimming, I sat down with my laptop by the window and watched mist creep out from within the trees and stretch across the fields toward the house. It was so quiet, and the mist appeared almost as if it were alive, that the beginning of Mortiswood sparked and I wrote out the first chapter curled up in the chair as the mist crawled around the farmhouse.

As the first draft of book one developed, I knew I wanted the series to be full of a mix of things I like reading. I wanted it to be a dark fantasy with a thrilling adventure, full of both magical and powerful people and creatures, and all with a dash of romance. The mythology woven throughout the tale is primarily Norse, with some of the realms inspired by my readings of Norse myths. Although it’s a magical series it is also set in the real world, mostly in Thanet, Kent.

I can’t talk about Mortiswood without mentioning the inspiration behind one of the main characters, the Vallesm – my own Siberian husky. He’s a big fluff of fun and would rather snooze in the garden than fight demons, but the way he moves and acts went a long way in helping me bring the Vallesm wolf to life. He is, in essence, my Vallesm!

A picture of my pooch – the Vallesm inspiration!

Blurb:
The problem with secrets is they don’t always remain secret, no matter how long they’ve been buried.

The dark side of magic beckons to Kaelia. It whispers in her ear, seducing her with the promise of yet more power. Having discovered the truth behind the goddess Hel’s connection to Bran the necromancer, Kaelia is finding it increasingly difficult to tell who is on her side and who is against her.

Drawn into an age-long battle, she must fight to protect not only those she loves, but also the humans that her enemies, The Salloki, would devour. Confronting an evil never seen before outside the realms of myth and magic, Kaelia is torn. Should she join with Bran? Is he really as trustworthy as he says?

But trust cuts both ways as Bran too discovers, unearthing both secrets and lies about his true identity. There is also someone he wants to protect above all, even if that price is unleashing upon Mortiswood the fearsome Vanagandr.

As secrets, lies, magic, and emotions weave their tangled web, who will lose their hearts and who will lose their lives?

Sometimes the line between good and evil is so blurred it fails to exist…

Try It Tuesday | Kate Somerville Exfolikate

I've been testing out the Kate Somerville Exfolikate for a while now and I'm going to be honest, the jury is still out!

Here's the product details from Sephora's website;

What it is:
A dual-action exfoliator that smooths and polishes to reveal a glowing, radiant complexion in as little as one use.
Solutions for:
- Dullness/uneven texture
- Pores
- Dark spots/uneven skin tone
 What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates
What else you need to know:
When you use ExfoliKate in the shower, the steam will help to activate the enzymes, making it even more effective.

Here's what I think:
Smell-Kinda smells like Christmas! Cinnamonish and warm. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's not my fave scent on my face.
Feeling-It kind of stings on your face as you circle it around. Which feels good, but hurts a little (in a good way).
How I use-I like to massage it in and around-focusing on my really dry spots (which is everywhere at this point!) and then letting it sit for about 5 minutes or so. Then I rinse with warm water or a makeup wipe (cause let's face it, I'm lazy #lazygirlprobs) and then I either do a sheet mask or moisturize right away
How often I use-twice a week!
Will I continue to use? Yeah, I definitely see a difference in my skin right after using and even the next day. It is on the pricey side, so I'm not sure I will repurchase (full disclosure; mine came in my winter FabFitFun box) I'll keep you posted on if it becomes a holy grail or not!

 HDH-Banner-BT.jpg
Her Defiant Heart by Monica Murphy Publication Date: March 29th, 2018
Genre: New Adult Romance

 Review:
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Monica Murphy's writing style sucks you right in. She writes in detail, but still leaves you wanting more. This is book is the first in a trilogy and it is like the appetizer to a 3 course meal. It has everything you want in a first book; back story, drama (lots of drama), lust, steaminess, the list goes on! I was turning the pages begging to know what would happen next for Jensen and Rhett and you will too. Trust me when I say you'll want to savor every minute of this one and then read it again before the next book comes out! I recommend this 5 star read to anyone who needs a new steamy series to start, xo!

Her Defiant Heart ebook

Life can feel like a cruel joke. I grew up poor and motherless, with a father who never got over his wife’s abandonment. But now he’s gone too, and I’m dead set on finding the woman who so carelessly tossed me aside when I was a baby.
I want revenge. And I’m going to get back at my mother any way that I can.
I change my name. Start my new life in college, and just happen to cross paths with the gorgeous, ultra-rich Rhett Montgomery. He’s immediately interested in me, not that I’m surprised.
You see, I planned it that way. I meant for him to find me. He’s the one connection to my mother, and I’m using him, so I can destroy her. But I didn’t plan on Rhett being so charming. Sweet. Sexy.
And I definitely didn’t plan on falling for him either…

Excerpt:
“Your friends are calling you,” I finally say.
He glances over his shoulder, then returns his attention to me. “They can wait.”
I’m surprised he’s putting talking to me above wanting to spend time with his friends. “Well, my homework can’t.” I gesture to the open textbook by my laptop. “Nice to see you again.”
“Nice to see you again? That’s all I get?” He slides into the booth seat across from mine, leaning across the table like he wants to get closer to me. “I bet you don’t even remember my name.”
“I bet you don’t remember mine either,” I toss back at him, tacking on an annoying giggle after I say it.
He makes a face, like he knows I’m fake as hell. “Jensen.”
“Rhett.”
His smile is back, wider than ever. “You should come sit with us.”
“No, thank you.” My voice is prim, like a snotty rich girl’s would be. Wouldn’t they find it hilarious to know that I spent my teenage years living in a mobile-home-slash-trailer park, in the decrepit old fifth-wheel my dad called our new home right before I started eighth grade.
One brow lifts. “My friends would love to meet you.”
“I doubt that.”
“It’s true.” He glances over his shoulder again, and they call out to him, a couple of choice words ringing in the air. The waitress glares, stomping over to their table to give them a lecture I suppose, and Rhett whirls around so he’s facing me once more, his expression full of amusement. “Or maybe not.”
“Go hang out with your friends,” I tell him gently, wanting to give the impression that I am the perfectly understanding girlfriend. He might not have those types of serious thoughts about me—yet—but my good behavior can enter his subconscious, right?
“Jensen. I want to see you again.” He reaches across the table and touches the top of my right hand, his warm fingers practically burning my skin. I snatch my hand away from his, my fingers trembling as I clutch my hands together in my lap.
One casual touch from him and I feel like I’m going to erupt in flames.
It’s terrifying.
