blonde hair, don't care

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.

Its' no secret I love my hair the lighter the better. I keep my hair light and bright with every blondes secret weapon purple shampoo! I love to rinse my hair and let mine soak anywhere between 6-10 minutes depending on how much time I have. In the past few years, I've really gotten my whole hair routine down pat. I wash my hair every 6-8 days (I use some dry shampoo on days 5 & 6), let the purple shampoo sit, wash it out and then wash again with a color preserving shampoo, condition, towel dry, blow dry, straighten, and volia!

But from time to time I think about how easy it would be to rock a wig and change up my look! Cue Divatress which is the leading beauty e-commerce in wigs and hair care. They have every color and length you could think of. Curly, wavy, straight-whatever you could want, they have something you're looking for. Not great at ponytails or braids, don't worry, there's a wig for that! I feel like wigs especially have come a long way and these look SO REAL. I can't believe some of them aren't the models real hair. Seriously, check out their site and tell me which wig you'd love to rock.

a book in review!

Brief Summary:

These Royals will ruin you.

Easton Royal has it all: looks, money, intelligence. His goal in life is to have as much fun as possible. He never thinks about the consequences because he doesn’t have to.

Until Hartley Wright appears, shaking up his easy life. She’s the one girl who’s said no, despite being attracted to him. Easton can’t figure her out and that makes her all the more irresistible.

Hartley doesn’t want him. She says he needs to grow up.

She might be right.

Rivals. Rules. Regrets. For the first time in Easton’s life, wearing a Royal crown isn’t enough. He’s about to learn that the higher you start, the harder you fall.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review. HOLY GUCAMOLE, you guys the ending of this book…holy crappppp! I had to read it twice cause I couldn’t believe my eyes. Okay, phew got that out of the way. Easton’s story is another Royal masterpiece. I loved being inside his mind this time around and noticing how different he is from his brothers. Hartley is a likeable female lead and I really want to know more of her story. Fallen Heir packs a big punch and if you liked any of the other books in the series, this one does not disappoint! I won’t give you any spoilers, but let’s just say you’ll be stunned…I recommend this 5 star book cause it’s Erin Watt perfection as per usual, xo!

Try-Day Friday!

I never wear shorts. Okay, sometimes…like to bed when it’s hot or to go on a bike ride, but other than that I really try not to wear them. It’s kinda of crazy how much I despise them because in 7th grade, I would wear them every day from April to October. But the older I’ve gotten the less I like my legs, so I keep them covered up as much as I can.

In an effort to get out of my comfort zone and to embrace the legs I’ve got, I told myself if I could find a cute pair of shorts I’d get them to wear down to the city last week. I went to TJMaxx on Tuesday and found the only pair of black jean shorts they had and they were in my size! So I tried them on to discover they were stretchy and actually looked pretty cute-I was sold!

You’re probably thinking “okay you wore shorts, what’s the big deal?” well the big deal is I knew I’d be taking tons of pics as Mik and I were headed on a mural tour in Manhattan (seriously guys, we put this together ourselves and it was epic. SO MUCH FUN!)

So the moral of this story is I wore something I’m not totally confident in, but rocked it all day & all night (seriously, I got home at 3:30am) I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and wear something you don’t normally wear. It can be shorts, a ball cap, really high heels, anything. Pick a day and just go for it! I’ve noticed the crew over at Dia&Co have something really fun going on in their offices on Friday called “Try-Day Friday” where they challenge one another to wear a piece they normally wouldn’t feel confident in make it work. Listen, we all know my motto is “fake it til you make it”, so embrace that and let me know what piece of clothing you’re going to rock that you wouldn’t typical wear, xo!

August Newsletter!

Well, well, well, so we meet again friends. And here I am still not with a way to get this into your inbox. I guess I should stop referring to this as a newsletter than, huh? Okay, let’s go with monthly open letter…sound better?

This month I’m going to open up to you guys about something I’ve been struggling with for what seems like ever…any guesses on the topic? No…well it’s my weight. Yup, you read that right, I’m going to be open and honest with you about my struggles with the numbers on the scale. Now I know that the numbers aren’t important and it’s all about how you feel-and I 100% agree, but to me a weight lost journey is about the number. *warning, this is a LOOOOOOOONG blog post!

In the spring of 2009 (was it really THAT long ago?!), I was in a long term relationship and noticed I had gained quite a few “love pounds” like approx. 30-45 pounds over the course of 2 years. I was pretty devastated and joined WeightWatchers immediately. I had seen the commercials and knew someone who was having some success, so I figured why not? I loved the plan and stuck to it and lost about 15 pounds within months. I felt great and slowly stepped away from the plan. Well that was dumb cause I gained it all back and then some.

Cut to 2011, and I refocused with the help of WW again and lost 25 lbs this time. I FELT AMAZING. Not only physically, but mentally. I was even comfortable enough to wear shorts people! (more on my relationship w/shorts Friday!) I really embraced the plan and what it was all about. The number at the scale wasn’t ideal, but the way I looked and felt, was. People noticed, I was able to fit into pants from 2006, it was awesome. At that point in my life everything was really great including my handle on my weight. And then again in the beginning of 2012, I slowly stopped counting and tracking my points which lead to some gains. And not the good kind of #gains.

The late summer of 2012 came and I was still feeling okay with my body and then life happened. Everything fell apart and was really shitty for a while. But after a few months, I started putting the pieces back together and created this little bloggy blog as my new outlet. I was watching what I ate and occasionally tracking my food, but not sticking with it. I started a new job in 2013 and was really starting to become the most adult version of myself (yes, I was already an adult and in my late 20s, but I think you understand what I mean…) I got back on the WW train and half assed it. I’d lose for a few weeks and then gain it all right back. I was in a spiral of not sticking with it. Then once WW changed their plan from pointsplus to smartpoints and I gave up on them. After paying for the service about 81 months total-holy shizzz, looking back and counting up the months and knowing I paid for something I wasn’t using is nauseating…I won’t even do the math for you, it's a lot with nothing to show-I finally pulled the trigger and canceled. I figured I didn’t need this new system and just bailed completely. I downloaded the free my fitness pal and counted calories instead. And what would you know? I was falling into the same vicious cycle.

Well here we are, present day. I’ve been paying for WW again since May 2016 and doing the same damn thing. This routine of tracking, not tracking, eating bad, eating good, is absolutely exhausted. But what is more exhausting is being in a body I’m not happy in. Now, you’re probably thinking “That really sucks, but why are you sharing this with us, this isn’t your typical post…” Well, you’re right, it’s not, but the reason I’m opening up to you is because I am starting fresh again. (it’s like that book Charlotte buys in Sex and the City, “Starting Over Yet Again”) I am going to hold myself accountable and really be open to WeightWatchers has to offer.  I figure by sharing this story of insanity with you will help hold me to it. Even if you don’t DM me on IG and ask “did you track your dinner?” I’ll know that my words are here in black & white FOR EVERYONE TO SEE and that is enough to keep me focused for real this time.

Ps-if you want to join me or want to chat about your struggles, hit me up-email, DM, comment, whatever, I'm here :)

bachelorette recap | finale!

Ahhhh, here we are...we've come to the end of Rachel's journey! Okay, 3 hours here we go...!

Hour One
End of one on one: with Peter. This is pretty heavy...he is trying to convey his feelings for her without saying I promise I'll propose. I feel like he is scared cause it's so real to him. I'm glad they're getting time alone in the fantasy suite, but I'm not sure what talking can be done. I always end a romantic date by looking through windows at one another, don't you?! I feel like they had a good night...wink wink...and she's still super into him.

One on One: with Bae-yan! YASSSS, that red shirt. Damn. I know I say it each week, but he is beautiful. Rach is digging the 90s vibes with this look. Did she not think he was good with her family? What's this weird awkwardness?! Okay, her meltdown saying "I don't know, I don't know" wow, she's totally into Peter. Guys, this isn't looking good for Bryan...OMGGGGG DO I HAVE A CHANCEEEEEE?!?!

Live cut to Rachel and Chris Harrison: She's being very open about what she was thinking during those moments and how it's making her feel now. Oh damn, she was going to dump Peter before the fantasy suite.

Back to one on one: with Bryan. Anybody else want to run their hands through Bryan's luscious locks?? My mom and I are totally into it. Damnnnnn. He was really excited to get to the fantasy suite...He really loves her. Shoot.

Back live: I like what she's saying about her off camera time and how much she asked them. She even asked about their credit scores, haha! But good for her, shows you how serious she is about this!

Rose Ceremony: to be honest, I have NO IDEA. Maybe Eric? (ps-I think it's crazy the rose ceremony is the same night after her and B's sleepover) AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I feel like I knew this was coming (I know I've said it week after week), but now that it's real...poor Eric. OMG, I feel so bad. Nothing you say right now can help, Rach. God, he is just a good guy. I love his little speech. Bryan going up to her to make sure she is okay shows how genuine he is. Peter is stepping up.
And then there were two...

 Hour Two

Live with: Rach & Eric. Gosh, he is such a good dude being so nice and open and honest. These two will stay friends, I definitely see the love between these two. I love how he keeps saying it was beautiful what they had. He talks about her and what she gave him in such a kind way. Eric is a good, good man.

One on One: with Bryan. Hot air balloon ride, how romantic. He is SO HANDSOME! I loveee him in the leather jacket. Can he just be my boyfriend? Rachel is wearing the watch...we've been on the lookout the whole time. I feel like a man being SO sure of you and his feelings is always alarming and makes you want to run. I haven't had this happen to me, but I think it's a natural reaction. He is honest with her about what he is feeling. At this point, no one can say this is for show. Awe his gift to her, so cuteeee! I love how it's personalized.

One on One: with Peter. Okay, this date was planned, but I think for a good reason. She's trying to get an outsiders perception on marriage. Anybody else keep singing "Who do you know?" from Enchanted in your head during this?? How do you knowwwww he's your's? Peter sees random ass dates in their future...I really don't know what's gonna happen with these two. Oh they're matching! That says something to me haha (I may be reaching at straws cause I want Bryan to myself.) Yikes, whoop there it is. He has said "I can't propose to you." She wants a proposal cause she's been burned in the past, I get it. This is a real convo between these two. He only wants to propose oncce. She wants it now. WOW. I can't believe this is happening. Why did he say "we're not breaking up." "do you want to give tomorrow a chance?" THIS IS HARD TO WATCH. OMG, THEY ARE REAL LIFE FIGHTING. Peter doesn't want to lose Rachel. Rachel doesn't want to lose Peter. Peter said I'll propose if that's what you really want. Rachel doesn't want a forced proposal. This is insanity, people. OMG. They broke up. She needs to understand if he loves her enough to be untrue to himself (by proposing) that he really does love her. OMG they said I love you. Guys, you know it's real, SHE TOOK OFF HER LASHES.

Back live: holy man, my heart is racing. WOWZER.

Hour Three
Still live: here comes Peter. Okay, does this mean she's engaged to Bryan? Cause I'm seriously bummed. I'm still holding on hope that Peter is the one. I guess not guys. UGH, DAMN IT. What color are Peter's eyes? Grey? They're nice. I love her hoops. Did I already say that? I really love them. Let's learn this lesson: Actions speak louder than words. It's true. Okay, where Eric and Rachel are friends after exes, these two are exes. Peter is saying it was him and being in his head. And Rachel is saying you're a type of person that shouldn't be on a show like this. She's still mad, he's still hurt. Peter is saying he feels attacked and we (me & mom) kinda agree. She's got a lot of attitude. I get her not wanting to hear from him again, that would be more confusing to her. SHE IS MAD STILL. Girl if you are that happy in your new life with my man, stop being so bitter towards, Peter. If you're "living your best life", then embrace that and stop with the bad feelings on the past with Peter. What would it change for her now hearing what she wanted to hear so bad back then?? Nothing. If he said "I wish I would've proposed", what would that have done for her now?

Proposal time: picking the ring. Ring is pretty...not what I would want, but hell if he is giving it to me, then yes, please! Omgosh, that hill and walk up, make him work for it. WHY DOESN'T SHE LOOK MORE EXCITED?!?! I kinda hate this part, I always feel like awkward watching. What in the world? Why is she leading him on this emotional rollercoaster? SAY IT'S YOU. THIS POOR GUY. (& by that I mean the sound guy...this wind, sweet baby J.) DAMN IT...okay, where is his doppelgänger?! Awe, alright this is a cute proposal...WHAT IS THIS WIND?!?!

Back live: he's proposing again. Oh man, I'm jealous. He is a great man. Blind faith. That's nice. They do look happy. I hope they don't end up in LA. I think they need to get a place in both of their hometowns and see what works for them as a couple best. I wish them both the best!

I had SO much fun recapping each episode. I'll def be back next season, so stay tuned, xo!

*ps-I get asked this a lot, but I don't typically watch Bachelor in Paradise, so I don't know if I'll be recapping that cause it's not something I typically tune into. But who knows, next week I may change my mind! :)

a book in review!

Next up on the what I read on vacation list...

Brief Summary:

No one ever said high school was easy. In this hilarious and heartwarming debut, one high school senior has to ask himself how much he's willing to give up in order to fit in.
Kevin seems to have it all: he's popular, good looking, and on his way to scoring a college hockey scholarship. However, he's keeping two big secrets. The first is that he failed an assignment and is now forced to take the most embarrassing course ever--domestic tech. The second is that he is falling for his domestic tech classmate, Claire.
As far as Kevin is concerned, Claire does have it all: she's funny, smart, beautiful, and confident. But she's off-limits. Because Kevin knows what happens when someone in his group dares to date a girl who isn't a cheerleader, and there's no way he is going to put himself—or Claire—through that.
But steering clear of the girl of his dreams is a lot harder than Kevin thought…especially when a cooking project they are paired together for provides the perfect opportunity for things to heat up between them outside the classroom….
Epic Reads Impulse is a digital imprint with new releases each month.

I snagged this book cause it was in my budget friendly vaca book range and the synopsis sounded cute. Well it's safe to say, I loved this book! From the yummy food they constantly talked about to getting into the guy's mind for once, it's the perfect YA novel. (yes, I read one or two or 20 of them a year...easy reading!) You don't have to like hockey to enjoy this book either. It touches on some real life stuff too and problems you may not realize go on. I recommend this 5 star book to anyone who just wants a well written easy read that you'll love way more than you thought you would, xo!

Summer Style Staples with JORD Watches

Summer to me means many things; vacation, my birthday, lots of rose, but it also means it's time to pull out some of my favorite fashion staples! My favorite things in the warmer months are bangles, maxi dresses, and of course Starbucks tea, but my new favorite piece is my JORD Wood Watch!

I'm not much of a watch girl, but when I saw these gorgeous wood watches by JORD, I knew I had to get my hands on one. Imagine my surprise when they reached out to collab with me! I got to pick the watch I wanted most and then days later this beauty showed up...seriously guys, it was the fastest turn around I've ever been apart of.

One of the best parts of receiving this watch was the wood box it comes in! I knew packing it in my suitcase when I headed on vacation that it would be safe and sound. The box even has a drawer in the bottom so I'm able to keep the cloth to clean it close by.

Navy is one of my favorite colors and once I saw the navy face on this watch I knew it was the perfect one for me! Check out my watch here: https://www.woodwatches.com/series/frankie-35/zebrawood-and-navy/#polishedandbubbly

Every year on vacation, my bestie and I head to the beach at sunset for a photoshoot. It's one of our fave vaca traditions and I couldn't wait to get some shots of my watch. Paired with a navy printed maxi dress it was the perfect look!

The best thing about having a wood band to the watch is that it goes with everything! You can wear gold, silver, even rose gold, and it looks perfect. I get SO many compliments when I wear my JORD watch. They have men's & women's watches and would make the best gift!

I want you to rock a JORD watch too, so I teamed up with the JORD team to offer one of my readers a $100 gift code to shop the JORD Wood Watch website!
It's so easy to enter, click this link and enter your name and email-that's it! And to make it a little sweeter, just for entering get a $25 gift code, so there’s nothing to lose. Giveaway ends on August 6, 2017 at 11:59pm, so make sure to get those entries in.

bachelorette recap | week 9 | men tell all

Well here we are...The Men Tell All! Starting with some most memorable moments, but I'm gonna hit you with some great things I found on the internet! Did you know Britney Spears (YES, THE QUEEN Britney Jean Spears) turned DeMario down in 2008?! Yup, he approached her and told her he was an aspiring actor and she declined his invitation to "take down his number". Look at her face, in this video guys...it says it ALL! He said multiple times he wanted everyone to know his face...yet he was here for the right reasons...yep, really was-eye roll. Another fun thing I found, Dean posed in a pic with a white girl and she captioned the IG "went black, but came back" and Rachel caught wind and left a comment that said "sent back...he didn't come back lol" bitter much, Rach? See for yourself here! Did you know Rachel SKIPPED her own engagement party that was supposed to go down this past weekend? I don't know why she skipped out on the festivities cause she has said multiple times that she is engaged and so happy. Sounds fishy to me! Let me know what you think about these two things and let's get on with the show!

Starting with Whaboom and Blake-Guys, I still HATE Iggy. Oh and Adam...this season had so many dudes that I couldn't stand. DeMario is running around saying "I text everyone" oh and he called Lexi, the girl that showed up on the basketball date his "side chick". He is a HOT MESS. Why did he bring up Bill Clinton and Monica? Dig your hole deeper and deeper...Iggy is saying his responsibility at the time was to watch out for the woman he has feelings for. I really can't remember Rachel saying "Oh, Iggy, please be my eyes and ears in the house, please Iggy." yeah no, that didn't happen. No one should be mean to Dean! Poor guy. I'm looking forward to his chat with Rachel.

Kenny & Lee...we're back at it. Lee had a lot of racial tweets that popped up (it's the internet, shit doesn't just disappear..) I feel like this is adding so much fuel to the fire cause even if he doesn't feel that way now, he's said a lot of damaging things in the past. The Kenny & Lee situation really just was too far gone. I think it's strange that everyone is saying Lee at the beginning was a standup, genuine guy and then it's switched. Did Lee feel threatened by the other men and their relationships with men or was he just showing his true colors? Off topic for a minute, what is DeMario wearing? Thanks for wearing your best fancy white tee, kid.

I do feel like Kenny was pegged as a few different characters on the show and the ultimate one wasn't good. It was an aggressive, wrestler, not the smart, loving dad he is. Lee is apologizing to Kenny about not being a good friend and lying to Rachel about the whole van bs. Aweeee, how cute that they brought his daughter out and she has a rose! That's sweet. She's a gorgeous girl. Ah, they're going to Disneyland, how fun!!

Okay, now Lee is in the hot seat! I want him to take ownership of his words and actions. Kenny's question about will people in your real life recongize the person you are on the show, is a solid question. Lee has not answered any question. The men keep talking, Lee isn't able to answer, but he also is just sitting there. Oh boy, they're bringing up his tweets, were he talks shit about women...yikesssss. There's the racist one...eeek. Damn, Lee. I need Lee to talk. Say something...anything at this point. Okay, I get what they are looking for Lee to say. He owned up to what he has said and is taking some ownership. Kenny & Lee have made up kids! I really hope Lee sticks by what he has said and will continue to educate himself on topics and not speak on things without thinking them through, jokes or not.

Dean is in the hot seat. This guy has been through the ringer in my opinion. The whole situtaion on his hometown date, Rach telling him she is falling in love with him and then BAM, dumped. Dean's outfit choice is questionable, the boots, polka dot socks, the camo tux jacket, what is happening? Heartbroken and got dressed in the dark...I've been there too, bud.

Alrighty, now the time we've all been waiting for Rachel is in the hot seat! First up, convo with Dean. I feel like she got defensive real quick with him.  Now, she's called out Kenny (which I'm glad she did, cause how he handled what happened when she picked him). Called out Lee, snaps to her. I'm glad that she also said "woman's rights" cause Lee is needs to own up to all of his racist tendencies. I really can't wait Adam and bad hair-Matt-also what's his brows? If I was Rachel, I would've sent you both home early, cause yawn, boring. Is it just me or does Rachel have a little bit of an attitude this whole time? I get it, I would HATE being in front of my ex boyfriends, like would hate it, but maybe she should be a little kinder, more personable. That poor guy who knew her from home, I feel bad for him, I always have.

I have to say, without the added drama of Kenny & Lee, Whaboom and whatever his name is, this season has been pretty boring. I don't know if it's Rachel or dud guys, but it hasn't been top knotch, edge of the seat, I can't wait for next Monday for me. Even the bloopers weren't that great! But with that being said, I am excited to see how this all pans out next week, really cause I just need to know if I need a one-way ticket to Miami or not ;) What's your take on this season? And who do you want as the next bachelor? Let's discuss, xo!
