a book in review

Brief Summary:

In Book Two of the Accidental Series, the vivacious women from Charlotte’s Restrained join Kathleen in Paris, France for Fall Fashion Week! Pairing Prada with Armani, and Proenza Schuler with Betsy Johnson, playing dress-up with the most prestigious credit card in your purse is a whole lot of fun. Kathleen, Hillary, Marian, and Tiziana mingle with celebrities, royalty, and the fashion elite as they critique the next season’s collections.
But wait, where is Charlotte? Will Des Bannerman, The King of Romantic Comedies make an appearance? What happened to Ted and Liam? You’ll find out as Kathleen entertains her friends in her beloved City of Lights.
What should be a frivolous week of ooh’ing and ah’ing everything from lingerie to lipstick, is about to take a turn. Kathleen has secrets. Dark secrets her friends would be devastated to learn!
Against the backdrop of runway shows, the Champs Elysees, the Roman Coliseum, and the Space Needle, twists and turns take place, attempting to draw Kathleen out of the shadows and into the light. This remarkably complex woman, full of hidden surprises, meets her match in S├ębastien Langevin, who urges her to reveal all.
Will Kathleen continue deceiving her friends at the risk of their friendship -- or reveal the truth at the risk of herself? The true meaning of friendship and love, along with a healthy dose of fashion and laughter, can be found in Kathleen’s Undressed, The Accidental Enigma!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Okay, if you know me, you know that I love fashion and Paris. So when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it! This is one of those books that you can't wait to pick up because the girls have so much fun and you feel like you're having fun with them. I was rooting for each of the girls the whole time, I felt like they're my friends. I really enjoy books where I can feel like I'm connected to the characters, and Kathleen's Undressed is definitely that type of book. I highly recommend this 5 star book to anyone who's like me and loves Paris & fashion, xo!

Red Carpet Style

So if you're not under the age of 15 or your guilty pleasure isn't the Disney Channel, then you probably had no idea that the Radio Disney Music Awards were this past Saturday. Since I'm the latter and definitely would be hitting up this award show, here's what I would've rocked on that red carpet.

Okay, lets start with the accessories. I am OBSESSED with the studded Valentino collection, so I'd pick this pretty clutch to pair with those gorgeous rainbow heels. Add in the Oscar de la Renta swirl collection which goes perfectly with this super pretty and fun BCBG jumpsuit.

Red Carpet Glam; RDMAs

For glam, I'd have to go with a fun mani. My favorite bright pink lips (same color I would've worn to the MTV Movie Awards), gorgeous gold smokey eye, and a messy ponytail and you have the perfect look for an event that's all about kids (and a 30 year old who can't miss an episode of Liv and Maddie) Think I'd end up on the best dressed list, let me know, xo!

a book in review!

Brief Summary:
Seth is back.

When he walked back into my life, it almost felt like the pieces of my broken heart could be fixed. I thought we could go back to being best friends, but then I started to feel what I had been blocking out for years. I tried. Boy, did I try! But once I started to let him in, I wanted nothing more than to cross that line from friendship into something more…

Just when I think I can move on and let myself be happy, an ugly reminder from my past comes storming in and threatens to destroy the sliver of hope that’s been growing since Seth came back.

Do I even deserve to be loved?

“I’m not asking to fix your heart. I’m not asking to mend you. I love each and every shattered piece of you. I’m asking that you let me love you. Let me love each piece of your broken heart, and I swear to you I will make up for every heartache you have ever experienced.”

I came back for Josie.

I knew I’d have to fight for her, but with the loss of her dad and the truth about what happened with her and Blake, I quickly realized that making her mine was going to be a lot harder than I first thought. The problem is, I can’t pretend like she’s just my best friend. I can’t pretend I don’t want more.

I’m willing to do anything to get her to admit she has the same passionate feelings for me, because I know once she opens up and stops lying to herself, I can show her what it really means to be loved. It’s a battle of wills, but my love for her is stronger than her will to stop me.

So I fight for her. I fight because I know she deserves it.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Josie is like that friend that you just want to shake your advice into. The author takes you on a roller coaster ride for sure. I was on pins and needles waiting to see what was going to happen. You'll laugh, you'll cry, this book will mess with your emotions. And with an ending like that, you'll want book 3 to come out immediately. I recommend this 4 star book to anyone who is looking for a new series to get sucked into, xo!

Author Bio:
Victoria Klahr (pronounced “Claire”) lives in Elizabeth City, North Carolina with her husband and daughter, Stephen and Alexis. She loves her chug (Pug/Chihuahua), Bandit, and daughter to pieces. She is a huge and proud book nerd who looks at her bookshelf in admiration daily. When she’s not daydreaming about book boyfriends and fantasizing about being a badass heroine like Rose Hathaway, she’s busy doing schoolwork for her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and writing the stories that speak to her in her head. She loves peanut butter with Oreos, good friends, amazing gossip, driving in the middle of merge lanes, comedies, crude humor, pretending like she can dance, pretending like she can kick major ass, and a really, really good laugh.

a book in review

Brief Summary:

How far should you go to keep a secret?

No-one ever accused Sophie Campbell of being a coward. From caving trips to rooftop pranks, it appeared nothing could hold her back, especially once she landed a dream job promising travel all over the world.

But Sophie’s jet-setting lifestyle is not what it seems and she’s been spending more time in the quiet English village of Saffron Sweeting than she cares to admit. When her beloved Great Aunt Wol dies suddenly, Sophie loses one of the few people who truly know her. As friends, family and an old flame gather for the funeral, questions soon follow. Worse, Sophie finds herself increasingly attracted to the man most likely to expose her secrets. Can she manage to guard her past, yet finally follow her long-held dream?

Featuring both new and familiar characters, this stand-alone romantic comedy is set two years before Kindle best-seller Saving Saffron Sweeting. With side helpings of British tea, cake and wit, Secrets in the Sky explores how finding the courage to be yourself can be the toughest challenge of all.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. If you have some free time and like books you can't put down, then pick this one up! (See what I did there?! Clever Kayla.) The story takes place in a charming fictional town that to me felt like one of the characters. Sophie the main character is so likable and you will be rooting for her from the beginning. The author writes so beautifully and page reads like a movie. With that being said, the story still feels very real life. Spring is the perfect time to pick up this 5 star book and sit outside and get lost in Saffron Sweeting, xo!

Author Bio:

British by birth, Pauline Wiles is now a contented resident of California, although she admits to an occasional yearning for afternoon tea and historic homes. Her work has been published by House of Fifty, Open Exchange and Alfie Dog Fiction. Her first novel, Saving Saffron Sweeting, was a quarter-finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and a number one Kindle bestseller. When not writing, she can be found getting the steps wrong in a Zumba class or calculating how many miles she has to run to justify an extra piece of cake. Her ambition is to sell enough books to cover the cost of flying herself and a reader to London for tea.
